2013-2014 Theatre Season

This season offered a few new opportunities for the actors, both past and present. There was not one, but two Fall Plays this year. WHS Alum Kelsy Reynoldson ('09) joined the directing staff for a Wesleyan credit.

The 39 Steps

The season started off John Buchan's adaptation of a Hitchcock thriller mixed with the goofiness of a Monty Python sketch. "The 39 Steps" joined four actors (seniors Dalton Polivka and Caitlin Davis, and juniors Tucker Flodman and Ryan Searle) in the hilarious mystery thriller.

Hannay (Flodman) is bored of his life. Bored, until the beautiful, mysterious secret agent Annabella (Davis) falls into his lap. Her unexpected murder throws Hannay headlong into the dangerous world of espionage, romance, chills, kilts and murder. Both pursued and helped by scores of supporting characters, all played by two clowns (Polivka and Searle), Hannay battles his away across Great Britain and Scotland, making his way closer to the secret of "The 39 Steps".

The production was an absolute riot for audiences. The brilliant actors played off all manner of technical (and wardrobe) difficulties to make it a (seemingly) seamless production, and a wonderful way to start the season.
